**Remember to show athlete's face in each video. Record face prior to each event so recruiter can see that it is the athlete in question. Always record several seconds at the beginning and end of each test. It is advised that you look at videos of others performing tests, ask your coach, or do further research online if you have questions about how to perform a test.
**Every link must be a video, even if you are taking a picture, i.e. Test score or Hand measurement. Make a short 5 second video of you picture and then upload it to youtube (or other) and then email us the link just like other videos.
**It is much easier on us if you make a "Movie" of all of your videos and then upload the movie to youtube (or other). This way, we only have to copy one link for all of your videos.
**Any additional links you may chose to send us at a later date will be a new link added to your videos.
Instructions for Making Video of Height
1. Athletes will be standing against a wall with a metal tape or some other official, accurate measuring device affixed to the wall.
2. Athlete will be standing with his back against the wall without shoes and with his feet flat on the floor.
3. The camera operator should record the feet of the athlete (which should be without shoes, flat on the floor, and against the wall).
4. Without stopping the camera, the recorder should move the camera from the feet to the head and record for approximately 5 seconds at the top of the head of the athlete.
5. A third person should press a firm 90 degree item (book, measuring triangle, etc) down onto the top of the head of the athlete while keeping the item flat against the wall.
- Third person should be sure to press all hair down until it is flat against the head.
Instructions for Making Video of Broad Jump
1. Athlete should start with toes behind a marked starting point.
2. Athlete should lower hips and thrust himself forward to jump down a marked measuring device.
- Use a metal tape, marked field, or other measuring board.
3. Athlete must land on both feet, without falling backward, while a third person places a yard stick at the shortest heel after landing.
4. Camera operator should show athlete at the start line (showing toes behind it) for approximately five seconds.
- Pan out to show the entire area for jumping and continue recording as athlete jumps and lands.
- Continue recording and zoom in as third person places a yard stick behind closest heel and measures the distance jumped.
- Make sure to record from the side where the viewer can see exactly where the athlete landed.
Instructions for Making Video of Weight
1. Athlete should stand on a digital scale without shoes.
2. Athlete should wear only shorts and a t-shirt that is tucked into the shorts so that waist and pockets can be seen. No loose shirts should be worn. Camera should be able to show that there are no items in the pockets or waist-line of the athlete.
3. Camera operator should start the recording by showing the entire athlete with shirt tucked in and standing on the scale. Camera should then be moved downward, toward the scale, and show the digital reading of the weight for 5 seconds.
Instructions for Measuring Hand Size
1. Athlete should use a ruler to measure hand size.
2. Athlete puts his thumb at the end of the ruler and spreads his hand as wide as possible to see how far he can stretch his pinkie finger.
3. Camera operator begins the video by recording the hand on the ruler. Record the hand measurement for approximately five seconds and then pan out and up to show the face of the athlete.
Instructions for Measuring Reach or Wing Span
1. Athlete should stand against a wall that has an accurate measuring instrument affixed to the wall. A metal tape should be used here.
2. Athlete should put one middle finger at the end of the measuring tape and his other middle finger, stretched as far as possible, toward the opposite end of the tape. Athlete should try to keep his back flush against the wall.
3. Camera operator should record the athlete from the front for approximately eight seconds. You may have to start the camera at one end and move it slowly to the opposite end in order to see how both middle fingers are positioned across the tape.
Instructions for Making Video of “L” Drill.
1. A painted football field should be used for this test to insure proper distance between cones.
2. Place three cones five yards apart in the shape of an “L”. In reality, if you stand at the start/finish cone, it looks like a “7 or backward 7”.
3. Athlete starts in a three point stance with his hand on the line at the first cone.
4. Athlete sprints to the first cone and touches the line at that cone.
5. Athlete then turns and runs to the start/finish cone and touches this line with the same hand that he touched the first cone with.
6. Athlete now runs around the outside of the corner cone (2nd cone) and does a figure 8 pattern around the third cone.
7. Athlete then goes around the outside of the corner cone (2nd cone) again and then sprints past the start/finish cone.
8. Camera operator should stand on the start/finish line (on the inside of the “L”) and record the athlete at the start line for approximately five seconds.
- Pan out enough to record the entire drill without shaking the camera as much as possible.
- Pan out enough to record the entire drill without shaking the camera as much as possible.
Instructions for Measuring Vertical Jump
**Can use the vertical jump measuring rod if you have one.
1. Athlete should reach as high as possible with side against a wall.
2. Athlete touches the wall with chalk on his middle finger to mark this distance.
3. Athlete then starts with both feet on the floor and jumps off of both feet as high as possible and touches the wall/board again.
- Athlete to touch wall or board at the peak of his jump.
4. Camera operator videos the athlete standing in front of the wall for about three seconds and then points to the athlete to begin reaching to get initial reach measurement.
- Record the athlete throughout two consecutive jumps.
- Without stopping the recording, have a third person measure the distance from the initial reach to the highest jump measurement using a metal tape.
** It is not essential to measure the jump distance since the recruiter can simply subtract the distance from the first measurement to the second to get the difference. The video can be paused to obtain this measurement.
Instructions for Making Video of 5-10-5 (20 Yard) Shuttle
1. Athlete begins at the middle cone and sprints to either outside cone and touches the line with outside hand (run left = left hand).
2. Athlete then runs to opposite outside cone (10 yards) and touches it with the other hand, keeping shoulders facing the same direction throughout.
3. Athlete then sprints past the start/finish line.
4. Camera operator records athlete from a standing position for three seconds and then athlete puts hand on ground on the middle cone line.
- Camera operator pans out to view the entire course while standing on the start/finish line directly facing the athlete in order to get an accurate front view of the finish.
** Athlete should record himself twice. Athlete should go left first in the first video. On the second video, athlete should go right first.
Instructions for Making a Video for the Squat Hip Flexibility Test
1. Athlete simply does a body weight full squat.
2. Athlete should understand that his heels should remain flat on the floor throughout this test.
3. Athlete should go as far down to the floor as possible and remain in this position for approximately five seconds.
4. Camera operator begins the video while athlete is in a regular standing position for about three seconds.
5. Camera operator then points to athlete to tell him to begin his squat.
- Record this squat position for 5 seconds and then tell the athlete to stand back up while you record for approximately two more seconds after he stands up.
Instructions for Making a 40 Yard Dash Video
1. Use only an officially painted football field.
2. Start at the goal line and finish at the 40 yard line.

4. Focus in on runner showing that it is the athlete and that he is behind the goal line with both hands.
5. Allow camera to start video up close and then pan out prior to start of run.
- Camera operator should record approximately 3 seconds of up-close video and then pan out.
- Camera operator should then raise his hand to inform the runner that he should now start.
-Runner should not take more than a couple of seconds to start. Do not keep camera man waiting. This should be a short video. Do not waste time at start line.
- Camera operator should make sure to record the runner taking off because this is when recruiters will start their timing.
- Once the runner takes off, the camera operator should now zoom out and make sure that he records the runner crossing the finish line.
- Minimal camera movement is needed in order for timers to have a good steady view of the start and of the finish.
** Each athlete should record two videos of himself.
Instructions for Making Video of Bench Press, Squat, and Power Clean
**Any weight lifting video should be done using the techniques that you have been taught by a qualified coach. If you have not been trained how to properly perform these tests, do not do them. You should use proper spotting techniques in all lifts.
Bench Press
1. Put a weight on the bar that you think you can lift properly between three and eight reps.
2. Have spotter aid in lifting weight off of the rack for you.
3. Lift weight properly as many times as possible.
4. Spotter should keep hands under the bar (but off of it) until the lifter needs help racking the weight.
5. Camera operator should video the lifter sitting on the bench for three seconds and then point to the lifter to begin.
- Continue recording until lifter needs help re-racking the weight.
Squat
1. It is suggested that you put a weight on the bar that you can squat properly, and without help, for five reps.
2. A safety bar/rack should be used when performing this test.
- You should NOT fail this test by missing a rep. Use weights that you can lift safely.
3. Spotter/s should be is position to help if needed.
4. Camera operator should begin video by recording the face of the athlete, from the front, for three seconds and then move to the side of the lifter as he lifts.
- Video ends after athlete completes five reps.
Power Clean
1. Athlete puts a weight on the bar that he knows he can lift properly for three reps.
2. Spotter should be in place and ready to help lifter.
3. Camera operator records athlete standing in front of the bar for three seconds and then points at lifter to begin.
- Continue recording until lifter completes three reps.
In this section, you can link 20-30 clips of yourself playing in games. Send that link to our email address just like your other videos.
1. Athlete should place a piece of tape, or paper, over any personal information that you do not want made public. Make sure that your name and test score are visible.
2. You may chose to make a copy of your test score and then mark through personal information with a permanent marker.
3. Make a VIDEO of your sheet. Video should be at least 5 seconds.
